By accessing or using Worth Your Time ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Worth Your Time is an AI-powered movie recommendation service. We help you decide whether a movie is worth watching based on your personal preferences, and provide personalised recommendations tailored to your taste.

3. Age Requirements

You must be at least 13 years of age to use this Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

4. User Accounts

To use the Service, you must create an account through our authentication provider, Clerk. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised use

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service
  • Attempt to reverse engineer or extract data from our AI systems
  • Redistribute, resell, or commercially exploit our recommendations
  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorised purpose
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Impersonate any person or entity

6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Important: Our recommendations are generated by artificial intelligence (Google Gemini via OpenRouter). You acknowledge that:

  • AI recommendations may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable
  • Recommendations are for entertainment purposes and not professional advice
  • You should independently verify any information before relying on it
  • AI outputs may occasionally contain errors or biases
  • Match scores and verdicts are estimates, not guarantees

7. Third-Party Content

The Service displays movie data, images, and metadata from third-party sources, primarily The Movie Database (TMDB). You acknowledge that:

  • We do not own the movies or content we recommend
  • Movie availability on streaming platforms may change without notice
  • We are not responsible for the quality, content, or availability of movies
  • Third-party content is subject to their respective terms and copyrights

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and code, is owned by Worth Your Time and protected by intellectual property laws. Movie data and images are owned by their respective copyright holders, including TMDB. You retain ownership of any preferences or personal data you provide.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
  • We do not guarantee accuracy, reliability, or availability of the Service
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any)

This includes but is not limited to: inaccurate recommendations, wasted time watching movies you didn't enjoy, streaming availability issues, or any decisions made based on our recommendations.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Worth Your Time and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice.

You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Account → Delete Account. Account deletion is immediate and will permanently remove:

  • Your account and profile information
  • All movie preferences and taste profile data
  • Watch history and watchlist
  • All cached recommendations and check results

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

12. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms and revising the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United Kingdom.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
